BURKE: Adam Fox was Worth the Price of Admission for New York Rangers

The New York Rangers could have waited the Carolina Hurricanes out and still landed NCAA standout defenceman Adam Fox. Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton would be two draft picks richer for his patience, too.

Instead, Gorton jumped the line and sent second- and third-round picks to Carolina for the Hobey Baker Trophy finalist and signed him to an entry-level contract not long after. Every indication is Fox will make the lineup, and should that happen, the third-round pick going the Hurricanes way will instead become a second-round selection at the 30 games played mark.
