EP Rinkside Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 28 Ranked Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames prospect pool is the victim of their scouts and development staffs success. With so many of their top tier prospects graduating to the NHL, there aren’t many game breakers left in the system.

Even their No. 1 ranked prospect — no spoilers, read ahead — barely meets our exceedingly forgiving qualifications. So long as a player is Calder-eligible, they qualify. That player is one game short of not qualifying next season. Go figure.

You’ll find there’s a fair amount of depth in the Flames’ system, though. The final two-thirds of the farm were all kinds of difficult to sort. It’s a little bit forward-heavy at present, but the Flames have a relatively young blue line anyway, and the elder statesmen of the group just won a Norris Trophy.
