EP Rinkside Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 17 Ranked Edmonton Oilers

In a perfect world, the Edmonton Oilers’ prospect pool rating in the bottom half of the NHL would signal a turn of fortune for the big league roster.

To some degree, that’s happening. It’s just happening a lot slower than anyone in Edmonton had hoped. They’re not picking in the top three like clockwork, but they’re not in the playoffs either.

Suiting of a team in Canada’s tundra; this franchise is sliding like a glacier through hockey’s purgatory.

Are there better days ahead? Well, the team drafted decently under former-Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli. If the new GM, Ken Holland, can continue that trend; that’ll help, too.

The hope is that some of these prospects can blossom into full-time NHLers capable of supporting the multitude of stars at the top of the Oilers lineup. That would
