We already addressed the undrafted free agents who could make the jump from NCAA to the pros next season. Then there are the guys who NHL teams have already drafted — teams that may or may not be breathing down their necks to sign after this season. Or, often, the player dictates that, and just wants out of college, or is itching to sign his first pro deal.

Some of these players are ready, and often they are not. But that doesn’t always drive the decision.
