BURKE: Aidan McDonough the Latest in Long Line of Vancouver Canucks Prospects Flourishing at Northeastern
BOSTON, Mass. — The ties between Northeastern University and the Vancouver Canucks run deep.
Adam Gaudette, the Canucks fifth-round pick, 149th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, started the trend, and he’s now contributing at a 40-point pace in their middle-six. Tyler Madden, a sophomore with the Huskies, and the Canucks third-round pick, 68th overall, followed in his footsteps last season.
Aidan McDonough, a Northeastern freshman and the Canucks seventh-round pick, 195th overall in last June’s draft is just the latest to dive head-first through the pipeline, hoping it will carry him all the way to Rogers Arena.
The connections don’t stop there, though. McDonough, like Gaudette, played for the USHL’s Cedar Rapids Roughriders and Thayer Academy before that.
