Scouting Report: 6 Swedish NHL Draft Re-Entries to Watch in 2020 NHL Draft
The Swedish presence at the NHL Entry Draft is well-established. Their draft year, a little more ambiguous. Most of the Swedes hearing their name called are first-time draft-eligible players, but a not-insignificant amount has to wait for their second or third pass to hit pay dirt.
This might come as a surprise, but some of the most well-known Swedes playing in the NHL were overagers. Buffalo Sabres rookie Victor Olofsson went in the seventh round of the 2014 draft, his second go at the annual spectacle; Nashville Predators winger Viktor Arvidsson a fourth-round pick in that same draft, his third kick at the can; Mattias Ekholm, Arvidsson’s teammate, also an overager, in the 2009 draft; Lucas Wallmark, a fourth-round pick in 2014, in his second go around.
