CHL Free Agent Profile: Ryan McGregor Lands in the Desert With Arizona Coyotes
Arizona Coyotes general manager John Chayka went back to his OHL scouting roots and picked up a free agent from the region, signing Sarnia Sting centre Ryan McGregor to a three-year entry-level contract.
It’s McGregor’s second stop (well, third if Columbus Blue Jackets’ Development Camp counts) in an NHL organization after the Toronto Maple Leafs, who brought him into the fold with a seventh-round pick in 2017, passed up the opportunity to sign him during their window of exclusivity.
That decision opened the door to the other 30 NHL teams, and the Coyotes stormed through the breach.
