Here I sit in the third week of June. Normally, I’d have my plane ticket in hand, gearing up for the annual adventure that is the NHL Entry Draft. I’ve come to know it as the best week of the year.

Alas, there will be no summer trip to Montréal this June. Perhaps, with a little luck, we’ll get lucky and a nice fall visit isn’t out of the question.

Now, if I think this change in plans is an inconvenience to me, I can only imagine how the kids who are due to be selected feel. It’s tantamount to indefinitely postponing Christmas for a five-year-old.

It’s just not fair.
