Theodor Niederbach didn’t generate much buzz in draft circles at the beginning of the year. It was a strange development considering how much attention he’d captured only two years prior in Sweden.
It was Niederbach’s U16 season that built a name for himself. He put in a good showing for Ångermanland as they advanced to the TV-Pucken final.
At the club level, Niederbach played for his youth team, KB65, and he scored a whopping 73 points (38 goals and 35 assists) in 24 games in the U16 Elit.
It paled in comparison to the accomplishments of a pair of child prodigies in Alexander Holtz and Lucas Raymond, especially in terms of the hype and media attention it generated, but he led the group of ’02s just behind them.
