The EliteProspects Rinkside 2020-21 Off-Season Prospect Pool Rankings: the No. 20-ranked San Jose Sharks

Just when it seemed like the San Jose Sharks prospect pool was starting to run shallow, they went and out cleaned up at the 2020 NHL Draft.

Yes, it’s still too early for sweeping claims, but the Sharks left the draft with four prospects inside the top-53 of EliteProspects’ NHL Draft Board – and three inside the top-40. Even more impressive, they did it with picks No. 31, 38, 56, and 76. Come on.

It certainly hasn’t hurt that several late-round picks have taken significant steps forward, too.

Despite lacking a high-end prospect, the Sharks land at 20th-overall in the ranking for their depth. But unlike the Flyers ranked below them, it’s not bottom-of-the-lineup depth. They have eight prospects with a Future Value of 5 or 5.5 – two more than the next closest on the list to this point.
