The EliteProspects Rinkside 2020-21 Off-Season Prospect Pool Rankings: the No. 4-ranked Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are the team of Hockey Prospect Twitter, an honorific they've brandished in consecutive seasons with their work at the draft.

Not only have the Canes selected 20 players in those two years, but almost every single player has some combination of high-skill, high-scoring, and high entertainment value.

As a result, the graduation of Martin Necas and trades of Janne KuokkanenEetu Luostarinen, and Julien Gauthier didn’t hurt the system one bit.

While Seth Jarvis stands as the organization’s only high-end prospect, their depth is unmatched by all but the No. 1-ranked team. In total, the Canes have 14 prospects with a Future Value of 5 or higher, suggestive of our confidence in their likelihood of an NHL career. Of course, not all 14 will make it, but that’s an extraordinary amount of prospect depth.

That depth ensures this cup contender should have a steady stream of cost-effective skill to inject across the lineup for years to come.
