World Juniors 2021

World Junior Hockey Championships: Group B Preview

We’re back with the Group B preview.

While Group A holds Canada, with Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden, and the USA; Group B’s the one to watch.

Even Austria, which earned promotion from the Division 1A tournament, might be able to make things interesting in a game or two with Marco Rossi, the OHL’s leading scorer in 2019-20.

This Group might be decided by goaltending. Two of the sport’s top young goaltenders, Yaroslav Askarov and Spencer Knight, will start for their countries, while Hugo Alnefelt and Jesper Wallstedt will battle it out in Sweden’s crease.

The tournament kicks off on December 25th, with pair of Group A matchups: Switzerland versus Slovakia and Germany versus Finland, before Russia plays the USA in the evening’s marquee matchup.
