There’s a bounty of players who have proven themselves as holding top-line upside, and each of the seven organizations involved in the first phase of the NHL’s Draft Lottery will draw from these prospects to bolster their team’s core.

One of these prizes is greater than ever, the crown jewel around which an ascendant team can build their empire — Rimouski Océanic winger Alexis Lafrenière.

The top of the 2020 NHL Draft leaderboard is where Lafrenière started his season, and he’s done nothing to disabuse himself of that position. He’s consolidated his hold on that precious No. 1 billing if anything.
