Around the AHL: Quinton Byfield leads a prospect-heavy lineup in Ontario
The Ontario Reign (Los Angeles Kings) have plenty of leading attractions in their line-up this season.
Among the headlining top prospects is rookie centre Quinton Byfield, who is one of two top-five NHL Draft picks available to new head coach John Wroblewski. Byfield, 18, came to the Kings this past October as the second overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. Fellow Reign centre and top-five selection Alex Turcotte went to Los Angeles fifth overall in the 2019 NHL Draft to add to the already deep Kings prospect pool.
Turcotte left the University of Wisconsin last year after one NCAA season, so he is set in Southern California. How long Byfield remains there is another question, however. He can play in the AHL for now because the OHL remains on hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions in the province;
