Dylan Holloway proving to be perfect match for Edmonton Oilers

Months before the 2021 draft, Dylan Holloway seemed like a future Edmonton Oilers prospect. The two parties were a perfect match. The Oilers needed players like Holloway to solidify the structure of their lineup, a top-heavy one at the time -- and arguably still to this day -- that often collapsed, leaving but Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to fend for themselves. Holloway's pro-like game, his skills, his physicality, and most of all, his many refined offensive habits, suggested he would need less time than other prospects to jump in the Oilers' lineup and help its stars.

Fast forward a year and the selection looks even brighter for the Oilers. Holloway has improved in all facets of the game, becoming a dominant college forward -- one of the very best in the country, in fact, as he received a nomination for the Hobey Baker, given to the player most valuable to his team.

Mitch Brown, EPRinkside's director of amateur scouting and stats tracker extraordinaire, provided us with some data on Holloway's improvements over the past two seasons. His expected goals and assists, his shot volume and shot assist (or passes that directly lead to shots ), his controlled offensive zone entries, and his puck retrievals all took leaps forward.
