Around The AHL: Zegras in the centre in San Diego
Anaheim Ducks top prospect Trevor Zegras is officially a San Diego Gulls centre.
Sure, Gulls head coach Kevin Dineen had experimented at times early in the AHL season with Zegras playing pivot. But then Anaheim came calling after the rookie’s stellar start (four goals and five assists in eight games) with San Diego. From there, he spent 17 games with the Ducks, where he managed seven points (one goal, six assists).
On Wednesday night in a 4-2 loss to the visiting Ontario Reign that ended San Diego’s seven-game winning streak, Zegras was back with the Gulls. And this time it was as a full-time centre with one simple mandate from Anaheim management.
