Around The AHL: Washington and Carbery are a match in Hershey
Only the archrival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins stood between Hershey Bears head coach Spencer Carbery and a flawless week.
As it turned out, those Penguins forced Hershey to settle for a split in the teams’ weekend home-and-home series, ending the Bears’ six-game winning streak.
But it was still a top-notch week for the third-year head coach who will be back for a fourth season and beyond after signing a multi-year contract extension last Thursday with the parent Washington Capitals. Assistant coach Patrick Wellar and associate goaltending coach Alex Westlund also received multi-year extensions from Washington. Hershey holds a 17-6-2-0 (.720) record, third-best in the AHL this season.
