Connor Bedard breaks out at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Junior Championship

FRISCO, Texas — The 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship began a week ago, so by this point, you’ve probably heard about Russian winger Matvei Michkov. You’ve probably heard the name quite a few times at this point, considering he’s scored 10 goals in five games and amassed 12 points to lead all skaters in both categories.

You may have heard that Michkov, only 16 years old and ineligible for the NHL Draft until 2023, plays like Nikita Kucherov but is debated like Alexander Ovechkin, and you might have even read that here on this website, because I wrote that last week after he scored four goals against Germany.
