Around The AHL: Heat started hot, cooled off
The Stockton Heat packed a lot into three months.
Stockton, the first AHL club this season to reach the finish line, endured a last-minute cross-border move, a new home, ongoing roster attrition, and a promising start that turned into a gruelling finish.
On January 28, the parent Calgary Flames announced that the Heat would temporarily relocate from their California home and play out of Scotiabank Saddledome. Ongoing border restrictions between Canada and the United States complicated player logistics, which prompted the move. The late decision pushed the Heat’s season back 16 days.
