Filipovic's Fun Facts: Connor McDavid's special season
We're using 'Filipovic's Fun Facts' as a launching pad for taking a closer look at a variety of topics that have recently caught my attention. We'll use it to highlight stats, trends, or performances that warrant further investigation.
The subjects will usually be at least somewhat loosely related thematically, but sometimes it may just be an eclectic grab bag of topics that have nothing in common really beyond being interesting or notable in some way. But regardless, we'll use a combination of analytics and video to discuss how it's happening, and why it ultimately matters for our purposes.
For example, in the past we've looked at a variety of things such as Jesse Puljujärvi making the most of his second chance in the NHL, Jason Robertson's emergence as a top-line player and Calder Trophy candidate for the Stars, and the value Jaccob Slavin's discipline and Jakob Chychrun's goal-scoring have provided to their respective clubs.
This time, we're going to focus on players who have been doing the heaviest lifting offensively for their teams this season, highlighted by the historic run Connor McDavid is on.
