Around The AHL | Top young goaltending talents battle as Condors take Game 1
Two of the AHL’s best young goaltenders put on a show just off the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday night, but it was a wily veteran who finished the night.
Two goals from Bakersfield Condors forward Adam Cracknell helped goaltender Stuart Skinner to outduel Henderson Silver Knights counterpart Logan Thompson to take a 3-2 overtime win in Game 1 of the best-of-three Pacific Division final Wednesday night. This season the Pacific Division elected to stage a postseason to determine its champion.
Skinner (25 saves) and Thompson (35 saves) traded stops all night long. Cracknell and Seth Griffith supplied Bakersfield’s goals while Ben Jones and Pavel Dorofeyev countered for the host Silver Knights. Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday night, with Game 3 to go on Saturday, if necessary. Henderson is hosting the series at T-Mobile Arena, home to the parent Vegas Golden Knights.
