Prospect Pool Rankings

EP Rinkside 2021-22 Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 13-ranked Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators are assembling their prospect pool with a focused plan in mind. They want prospects who possess unique skills, but more than that, an above-average motor and engagement in the play. They want them to be inside-driven and physical, supportive and smart about their approach without the puck, both offensive and defensively.

This scouting staff seems to look for energy and intensity, and they aren't afraid to part with premium draft capital to secure their targets.

This is a bit of a different philosophy than the one we tend to follow at Elite Prospects and so there is a clash between the amount of draft capital the Senators amassed in the past years and their position in our prospect pool ranking.

As we value top talents disproportionately, Jake Sanderson keeps the pool in the top-15 and Shane Pinto, too, to a lesser extent. These two represent the best hope of the Senators at getting high-end players out of the current Calder-eligible players in their farm system.
