Prospect Pool Rankings

EP Rinkside 2021-22 Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 2-ranked Detroit Red Wings

When we made our top-100 affiliated prospects ranking, it felt like every other name brought up by our team was a member of the Detroit Red Wings.

The Wings' rebuild is not yet complete. They still need an influx of talent at every position, but they are well on their way. The team's system is filling with top-end prospects, like Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, who are well on track to realizing their high potential. Those two pieces could form part of the core of a contending team in a few years. The same is true of Simon Edvinsson, whose presence helped push this prospect pool close to the top of this ranking.

The Wings are slowly building both a talented and defensively sound team. Looking at the amount of rangy mobile defencemen drafted in recent years, their blue line, especially, projects to be one of the more intimidating units in the league.
