Would you Rather: New York Rangers choose between Jack Eichel or Mika Zibanejad?

On Sunday, the New York Rangers announced a new contract for Mika Zibanejad that will keep the center on Broadway through 2030 with $8.5-million AAV. He was not set to become an unrestricted free agent until next summer.

In making that decision, general manager Chris Drury effectively took himself out of the running for Jack Eichel after a lengthy flirtation through the media. Perhaps the Rangers didn't like what they saw in Eichel's medical records, or the extra $1.5-million in cap obligations was a bridge too far, or they just preferred to lock up a guy everyone in the organization is already comfortable with.

But did they make the right decision? That's difficult to say, so let's ask the simple question: Would you rather trade for Eichel, with all that entails, or stick with the guy you know in Zibanejad?
