Filipovic's Fun Facts: Early season standouts

We're bringing back 'Filipovic's Fun Facts', which is a recurring feature we used last year to highlight trends that I found notable, and stats that I found interesting. Rather than devoting all of our time here to one thing, it instead allows us to dip into a grab bag of eclectic topics, and examine them on a deeper level by using a combination of analytics and video.

For this year's first installment, let's take a closer look at some standout performances from the first week of the regular season. None of them are necessarily surprising, but they're all noteworthy because they neatly capture what makes each of them so effective.

We're going to focus on the details in Adam Fox's game that make him such a great defender, the Florida Panthers continuing to pulverize teams off the rush and Alexander Ovechkin's remarkable shot volume.
