Film Room: Peyton Krebs gives the Sabres a potential top-six centre

Finally, after a lengthy saga of false alarms and confusion, the Buffalo Sabres pulled the trigger on a Jack Eichel trade.

This trade wasn’t only exciting because it finally happened, but because it gives me an excuse to write about Peyton Krebs, one of the most entertaining prospects in the sport. So write, I will.

Krebs, a mid-first-round pick back in 2019, already has 13 games of NHL experience. In those 13 games, he clearly looked prepared for the NHL, bringing his high-octane playmaking and defensive acumen without much issue. His skill set landed at No. 21 on Elite Prospects’ top-100 prospects ranking in September. He has legitimate top-six upside.

While Krebs starts his journey with the Sabres with their AHL team in Rochester, it shouldn’t be long before he gets called up to the big club. Here’s the breakdown of the Sabres’ newest prospect.
