2023 NHL Entry Draft

A look at Matvei Michkov's highly tactical game

While the 2022 draft scouting season has been going on in full force, one can't help but glance at some of the phenoms eligible at next year's selection: Connor BedardAdam Fantilli and Matvei Michkov.

By a glance, I mean spend an unreasonable amount of time watching every one of their games.

Michkov, in particular, demands attention. Not only has he repeatedly made the highlight reels around the world with lacrosse goals from behind the net, but every passing month, he seems to break a new record.

In the past year, he became the best U17 scorer in the history of the MHL with 56 points in 56 games. He followed it up with a leading 16 point performance at the World-Junior Under-18 in just 7 games and then opened up this season with the highest point ever recorded in an edition of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup (13).
