The details in Dawson Mercer's Game are already shining through

As fans, we're completely spoiled by the remarkable amount of new young talent that keeps entering the league every season. This year's rookie class in particular looks special based on the early returns.

Lucas Raymond is unbelievably smooth, casually producing at roughly a point per game. Moritz Seider is making the transition to playing big minutes on the blueline at the NHL level look far easier than it has any right being. Trevor Zegras is putting people on posters, blessing us with new highlights every night. Seth Jarvis got a late start, but promptly stepped right into a top-line role alongside with Sebastian Aho and didn't look the least bit out of place.

Anton LundellCole SillingerJamie Drysdale, and too many others to count are all flashing immense skill themselves as first-year full-time players.

While all of them are fantastic in their own right, one other rookie that's really caught my eye in the early going has been New Jersey Devils center Dawson Mercer. Watching him play through the first 20 or so games of his career, I've been completely blown away by the level of detail that he already plays with at this stage of his career.
