Scout’s Notebook: 3 first-time draft-eligible prospects poised for a breakout at the 2022 World Juniors
The World Juniors aren’t just a showcase for the top 19-year-old prospects in hockey.
Every tournament, at least a handful of draft-eligible prospects either solidify their status as a top prospect or skyrocket into first-round discussion.
While single tournament-based evaluations are more likely to mislead than inform, for prospects playing professional hockey, returning to their age group can answer critical questions about a player’s skill level and decision-making.
As such, I picked three prospects generating some first-round discussion for their play against men and explained what they needed to do to answer questions about their game.
