EP Rinkside 3 Stars for Week 12 of the NHL season

Hey, it’s the end of the 12th week of the NHL regular season. And you’ll notice that there wasn’t a whole lot of hockey in that 11th week.

In fact, Dec. 30 was the first night in two weeks that there was a full slate of games played as scheduled. Tonight, New Year’s Eve? Not so much. At least one game has already been postponed, but we’re looking good for New Year’s Day. And then, as things stand right now, most days for the next week-plus already have at least one postponed game.

But we forge on because, well, these arenas aren’t going to fill themselves. And if it means the Toronto Maple Leafs end up having to play 48 games in the last 36 days of the season or something like that, well, that’s why they brought back taxi squads, right? The next guy the Montréal Canadiens call up might just be the next Jayden Halbgewachs (who’s real, by the way). He, too, could find himself among the three stars of the week.
