Akira Schmid called up to play for New Jersey Devils

Akira Schmid, 21, is leaving the Utica Comets and moving up to play in the NHL for the New Jersey Devils, according to the team's Twitter account.

Schmid weighs 205 lbs and is 6'5". He first played for SC Langnau.

Last season in NHL and AHL, the goaltender had a save percentage of .915 over 15 games with the New Jersey Devils and the Utica Comets.
