Keeping pace in the Stanley Cup Playoff races at the halfway mark

Just about everyone has played at least half their season by now, and the playoff races in all but one division seem like they’re pretty much over.

Almost every team in the entire playoff picture is basically just playing for seeding at this point, with the sole exception of whatever the hell is going on in the Pacific Division.

Because of all the stuff going on lately, it took forever for everyone to get to 40 games. The New York Islanders just got to that number on Wednesday night. The disparity is now such that multiple teams are north of closing in on 50 games while the Isles are still well behind. That’s life under COVID.
