Taking Stock: A look at the Colorado Avalanche's prospect trade chips for the deadline

This could finally be the year that the Colorado Avalanche put it all together. They sit atop the Western Conference with a commanding points lead, one that no team is likely to climb past between now and the season's conclusion.

Their roster is stacked with offensive talent at every position, and their power play is one of the very best in the entire league. 

Goalscoring is hardly an issue for the Avalanche, but it never hurts to add even more punch. Claude Giroux, one of the high-profile deadline targets that insiders are connecting to the Avalanche, could give them more balanced lines, but if the team is serious about going all-in for a Stanley Cup this season, they also need to shore up the depth, their bottom-six forward group, and their third-pair.
