Taking Stock: A look at the Carolina Hurricanes' prospect trade chips for the deadline

The Carolina Hurricanes find themselves in an enviable position ahead of the NHL trade deadline. They're one of the league's very best teams while also in possession of a top-end farm system. They have the talent to compete for a Stanley Cup this season and in the ones that follow, and the depth and young assets to trade from a position of strength at the trade deadline, in order to improve their already strong lineup.

Their lack of cap space complicates any potential trade, but if the right deal comes along, this technicality shouldn't preclude them from making business. The team's management has shown its creativity in the past.
