A brief recap of today’s NCAA tournament games:
No. 6 Minnesota Golden Gophers 3, No. 3 Western Michigan Broncos 0 (Worcester regional)
This was the Gophers playing against type.
Over their last two games, they allowed seven goals and the defence felt leaky. They entered Sunday’s game with the 14th-best team defence in the nation, despite allowing just under 27 shots on goal per game. It felt like the Broncos, boasting the fourth-most goals scored nationally thanks to 11 different players with at least eight goals, had the weapons to at least put a scare into this defensive unit.
But it didn’t work out that way. At all.
