Great start for Rangers with win over Lightning

The New York Rangers hold the upper hand against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup semifinal, after winning 6-2 (1-1, 3-1, 2-0) at home in game one. New York leads the series 1-0.

The hosting Rangers started off strong and took the lead right after the puck drop with Chris Kreider scoring early into the first period, assisted by Mika Zibanejad and Frank Vatrano.

Ondrej Palat scored in the middle of the second period, assisted by Anthony Cirelli and Steven Stamkos, to give the Lightning the lead.

Rangers' Filip Chytil scored a goal halfway through in the second, assisted by Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere, increasing the lead to 3-2 for the Rangers.

The Rangers continued to be dominant in the third period and won 6-2 in the end. The goals in the final period were scored by Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad.

New York improves to 1–0–0, while Tampa Bay drops to 0–0–0.

The teams play each other again for Game 2 on Friday, June 3 at 8 p.m.
