Where do the Edmonton Oilers go from here?

There is no great mystery around what got the Edmonton Oilers this far.

They have two of the very best players in the world, playing some of the best playoff hockey in decades. They have a handful of highly useful supporting players. They got uncharacteristically solid goaltending in both the regular season and playoffs — right up until they didn’t.

And then, there’s everything else.

A coaching change relatively late in the season seemed like it might have turned everything around, but in the end, your problems are always gonna be your problems. Not even someone as fast as Connor McDavid can outrun them.
