Lightning win and close in on Avalanche in series

The Tampa Bay Lightning came away with a win against the Colorado Avalanche. The final score was 6-2 (2-1, 4-1, 0-0). Tampa Bay has reduced the gap in the series in the NHL Final that now stands at 2-1 in favour of Colorado.

The visiting team took the lead in the first period, with a goal scored by Gabriel Landeskog. Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar assisted.

The Lightning tied it late in the first period, after a Anthony Cirelli's goal assisted by Pat Maroon.

The Lightning scored again late into the first period, after a Ondrej Palat's goal assisted by Steven Stamkos.

Nicholas Paul scored early in the second period, assisted by Ross Colton, to give the Lightning the lead.

Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog tallied a goal as he scored yet again, early, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Cale Makar and Mikko Rantanen assisted.

Pat Maroon scored halfway through, assisted by Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman, to give the Lightning the lead.

Corey Perry then tallied a goal late, cutting the deficit to 6-2. Ondrej Palat and Victor Hedman assisted.

The third period was scoreless as the Lightning held on to their 6-2 lead and won.

Tampa Bay improves to 1–0–0, while Colorado drops to 2–0–0.

The teams will soon play again for Game 4 on Wednesday, June 22 at 8 p.m.
