Lightning catching up to Avalanche with win

The Tampa Bay Lightning won 3-2 (1-0, 1-1, 1-1) against the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL Final. Tampa Bay has reduced the gap in the series that now stands at 3-2 in favour of Colorado.

The game-winning goal was scored by Tampa Bay's Ondrej Palat.

The Lightning took the lead late in the first period, with a goal scored by Jan Rutta. Corey Perry and Mikhail Sergachev assisted.

Valeri Nichushkin scored early into the second period, assisted by Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon, to give the Avalanche the lead.

Lightning's Nikita Kucherov scored a goal halfway through in the second, assisted by Steven Stamkos and Corey Perry, increasing the lead to 2-1 for the Lightning.

In the third period, Cale Makar then scored three minutes into the third period, assisted by Devon Toews and Valeri Nichushkin, to tie the game for the Avalanche.

In the third, Ondrej Palat then scored 14 minutes into the period, assisted by Victor Hedman and Mikhail Sergachev, and got the win.

Colorado is now 3–0–0, while Tampa Bay improves to 2–0–0.

The teams play again for Game 6 on Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m.
