The best and worst from the first two days of free agency

The first two days of free agency were, shall we say, eventful.

We had stunning signings (Johnny Gaudreau to the Columbus Blue Jackets), we had surprising trades (Max Pacioretty to the Carolina Hurricanes for literally nothing), and we had surprising non-signings (Nazem Kadri and John Klingberg were both still on the market at publish time). We also saw three different perennial also-rans make big splashes in the past week or so, with the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings and Blue Jackets grabbing headlines for taking big steps forward.

But I'm sure you're all asking yourselves: "Which contracts signed the last few days are the best ones, and which are the worst?" You're probably at home weeping right now because no one has told you definitively.
