EP Rinkside 2022 NHL Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 31-ranked Washington Capitals

It’s been years since the Washington Capitals had a prospect pool in the top-third of the league. That’s the cost of continued success.

Yet, they’ve still graduated plenty of talent to the NHL recently. Connor McMichael and Martin Fehérváry became full-time NHLers in 2021-22, and both look like potential impact players. Alexei Protas and Brett Leason are also considered graduated.

Now carrying the Caps prospect group are two high-upside late-first round picks, a bevy of Swedish forward prospects and a pair of intelligent free agent signings. There are also some quality blue-liners in the mix, provided they develop pace.
