Prospect Pool Rankings

EP Rinkside 2022 NHL Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 25-ranked Edmonton Oilers

With just four selections in the 2022 NHL Draft, the Edmonton Oilers didn’t have much of an opportunity to restock the cupboard with high-end talent. And it's not like they had high-end draft capital to begin with after their trip to the Western Conference Final.

That lack of draft capital coupled with only a pair of traditions (Ryan McLeod and Tyler Benson) from the players we broached in last year's prospect pool ranking has left this year's system looking awfully familiar.

The Oilers have continued to develop a bevy of prospects with relatively high floors. Several of them could become depth forwards at the NHL level to complement stars like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. And for a team that already has two of the best players in the sport in their top two centre spots, all they need is a steady stream of depth coming up through the farm.
