Former Avangard Omsk player finds new home: will play in the United States

Nikita Soshnikov, 28, of the Avangard Omsk, will now play for the New York Islanders, according to nhl.com.

Soshnikov weighs 174 lbs and is 5'11". He first played for Sputnik Nizhny Tagil.

He scored four goals and 16 points in 46 games for the Avangard Omsk and the CSKA Moskva last season.

Nikita Soshnikov will once again be playing alongside Matt Martin. During the 2016-17 season, they both played for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Nikita Soshnikov is the 28th player to be rostered for New York Islanders before this season. The New York Islanders have added Dennis Cholowski, and Hudson Fasching in the past month.
