What Brad Lambert's strong training camp and preseason mean for his projection
A turbulent draft year that saw Brad Lambert fall to the bottom of the first round followed by a performance so weak at the Summer World Juniors that had him healthy scratched in the medal round didn't necessarily give me high hopes for the Finnish centre at his first Winnipeg Jets training camp.
Shows what I know. Lambert hit the ground running with the Jets, leading the Young Stars rookie tournament in scoring and then played well enough in three games of preseason action to last until the last round of cuts sent him to the Manitoba Moose.
In those three preseason games, Lambert added a goal, an assist, and nine shot attempts. Though the Jets got outshot at 5-on-5 during the 30 minutes Lambert was on the ice, they controlled the majority of the scoring chances and outscored the opposition
