Penn State facing prove-it weekends after white-hot start

Here's how the Penn State Nittany Lions started the season: 5-2 win, 7-5 win, 6-3 win, 4-1 win, 6-2 win, 3-2 win, 2-1 win, 4-0 win. You'll note that's a lot of Ws.

It is, in fact, the most in the country and the best start in program history. They are one of just two undefeated teams in college hockey, and they've played six more games than Harvard, whose season just started this past weekend.

Penn State is averaging the second-most goals per game, and is tied for the eighth-fewest allowed. No one is taking more shots per game (almost 43!) and the number they concede is solidly middle-of-the-pack on the national level.
