Trailing in third period – Lightning win nevertheless

The road team Ottawa Senators held the grip before the third period to lead with 2-1 in the game. The Tampa Bay Lightning, however, managed to turn the game around and win 4-3.

Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov scored the game-winning goal.

The visiting Senators took the lead early in the first period, with a goal from Dylan Gambrell.

The Lightning tied the score 1-1 early into the second period when Mikhail Sergachev scored, assisted by Steven Stamkos.

Senators' Mathieu Joseph tallied a goal midway through, making the score 2-1.

Alex Killorn tied the game 2-2 halfway through the third period, assisted by Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov.

Claude Giroux took the lead less than a minute later, assisted by Brady Tkachuk.

Brayden Point tied the game 3-3 just one minute later, assisted by Nikita Kucherov and Ian Cole.

Nikita Kucherov took the lead five minutes later, assisted by Mikhail Sergachev and Brayden Point.

Tampa Bay improves to 6–4–0, while Ottawa drops to 4–5–0.

Tampa Bay is now in second place, while Ottawa is in eighth and last place.

Both teams play again on Thursday, as the Lightning host Carolina at 7 p.m. at Amalie Arena and the Senators host Vegas at Canadian Tire Centre.
