Avalanche win at home against Blue Jackets

The Colorado Avalanche won the home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3 on Friday.

The Avalanche opened strong, with Logan O'Connor scoring in the first minute, a goal assisted by Alex Newhook and Erik Johnson.

The Avalanche's J.T. Compher increased the lead to 2-0 halfway through the first period, assisted by Devon Toews and Samuel Girard.

The Avalanche scored one goals in second period an held the lead 3-2 going in to the second break.

The Blue Jackets tied the score 3-3 early into the third period when Sean Kuraly found the back of the net, assisted by Liam Foudy and Eric Robinson.

Mikko Rantanen took the lead six minutes later, assisted by Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon.

Cale Makar increased the lead to 5-3 two minutes later, assisted by Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen.

The Avalanche increased the lead to 6-3 with 02.00 remaining of the third after a goal from Mikko Rantanen, assisted by Nathan MacKinnon and Devon Toews. The 6-3 goal held up as the game winner.

Colorado improves to 5–4–1, while Columbus drops to 3–8–0.

Colorado is now in fourth place, while Columbus is in eighth and last place.
