Panthers win against Sharks in shootout on the road

The Florida Panthers were the victors in a close encounter with the San Jose Sharks. The game went the distance and it took a shootout to see Florida win by 4-3.

Florida's Sam Reinhart scored the game-winning goal.

The visiting Panthers took the lead late in the first period, with a goal from Aleksander Barkov. Anton Lundell assisted.

Radko Gudas scored late into the second period, assisted by Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe.

The Sharks narrowed the gap to 2-1, after only four seconds into the third period when Timo Meier beat the goalie, assisted by Alexander Barabanov and Erik Karlsson.

Erik Karlsson tied the game 2-2 five minutes later, assisted by Nick Bonino.

Matt Benning took the lead five minutes later, assisted by Erik Karlsson and Logan Couture.

The Panthers tied the score 3-3 with 01.21 remaining of the third period after a goal from Carter Verhaeghe, assisted by Matthew Tkachuk and Anton Lundell.

The Panthers won the game 4-3 in the shootout. Sam Reinhart provided the decisive penalty shot.

San Jose is now 3–8–2, while Florida improves to 6–4–1.

The result means Florida are in fourth place, while San Jose is in seventh place.
