Three points for Red Wings after third-period-win

The Detroit Red Wings defeated the visiting Washington Capitals 3-1. The game was all square after two periods but in the third Detroit managed to pull out a win.

The first period was scoreless, and early into the second period, the Capitals took the lead when Alex Ovechkin scored the first goal assisted by Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Late, the Red Wings made it 1-1 with a goal from Lucas Raymond.

Andrew Copp took the lead late in the third period, assisted by Adam Erne and Dylan Larkin.

The Red Wings increased the lead to 3-1 with 28 seconds remaining of the third after a goal from Dylan Larkin, assisted by Andrew Copp and Michael Rasmussen. With that, the Red Wings turned the game around.

Detroit improves to 5–3–2, while Washington drops to 5–5–2.

Washington are in sixth place after the game, while Detroit is in sixth.
