Devils beat the Flames in overtime

The teams were tied after 60 minutes but overtime saw the New Jersey Devils come away with the close win over the Calgary Flames on the road on Saturday. The final score was 4-3.

New Jersey's Fabian Zetterlund scored the game-winning goal.

The hosting Flames opened strong, with Nazem Kadri scoring in the first minute, a goal assisted by Trevor Lewis.

The Devils tied the game 1-1 early in the first period when Nathan Bastian scored, assisted by Jack Hughes and Miles Wood.

The Devils took the lead in the first period when Fabian Zetterlund scored, assisted by Tomas Tatar and Nico Hischier.

The Devils' Miles Wood increased the lead to 3-1 late into the first, assisted by Michael McLeod and Nathan Bastian.

The Devils scored zero goal in second period an held the lead 3-2 going in to the second break.

The Flames tied the score 3-3 early in the third period when Nikita Zadorov netted one, assisted by Blake Coleman and Rasmus Andersson.

In overtime, it took 2:38 before Fabian Zetterlund scored the game-winner for the road team, assisted by Dougie Hamilton and Jack Hughes.

With this win the Devils have six straight victories.

Calgary is now 5–4–1, while New Jersey improves to 9–3–0.

New Jersey are now at the top of the standings, while Calgary is in fifth place.

The Flames will travel to the New York Islanders on Monday at 7 p.m. at UBS Arena. The Devils will face Calgary at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Prudential Center.
